Why I like to feed goldfinches

If you love watching bird behavior, there is nothing more fun than the American Goldfinches. These small bright yellow and black birds have a roller-coaster flight and a lovely song. They roam from garden to garden making the flowers dance as they eat seed heads until late spring when they choose a territory where they will nest.
Now they are looking for natural cottony material or pet hair to line their cup shaped nest and a yard with a known source of food in anticipation of the arrival of their little ones.

And the babies are one of the reasons I love this time of year! Their demanding "Momma, Daddy" calls for food sound so similar to a dog’s squeaky toy, I find them adorable.

I’ve noticed the goldfinches feel more comfortable with the feeder in or near trees. My favorite feeders are the Mesh Finch Feeders. Several birds can feed at a time, the seed airs out, it's easy to clean, easy to fill, has a lifetime guarantee, and is made in the USA.

So if you were ever thinking about attracting American Goldfinches, now would be a great time to add a finch feeder to your yard. I also love that I can hang the feeder anywhere because squirrels and other animals don't bother with Nyjer Thistle. And the seed has been heat treated so it can't sprout weeds.
