Black-phase red fox

Nottingham Nature Nook is a wildlife rehabilitation center that raises and releases birds and other wildlife babies & cares for injured adults. Today they are asking for a little help. Two orphaned fox kits brought to the Nook rehab center, need to move outside where they have more room to develop.

Money is needed to build a long outdoor pen with a covered den area. You can donate money at the Wild Birds Unlimited East Lansing, Michigan store or go to http://youcaring.com/our-two-black-fox-kits or just share this story!

Red foxes are usually a rusty reddish but other color variations for the Red foxes include: a black phase where they are almost completely black, a silver phase in which they are black with silver-tipped hairs, and a "cross" phase where individuals are reddish brown with a dark cross across their shoulders. Adults typically stand 15 to 16 inches from the ground and are 35 to 41 inches in length. They can weigh between 8 and 15 pounds.
