One Acre Fox Enclosure for Non-Releasable Foxes

Wild Birds Unlimited always has a donation box for the local wildlife rehabilitation center, the Nottingham Nature Nook. However last Saturday we hosted our first charity event to help raise money for the Nook.

This year they are working to raise $20,000 to build a one acre enclosure for foxes that cannot be released. This enclosure will not only provide a safe haven for injured or orphaned foxes, it will also provide an important educational opportunity for the community to learn more about foxes in their natural surroundings.

Cheryl Connell-Marsh, the certified wildlife rehabilitation specialist, was nice enough to come to Wild Birds Unlimited for a couple hours with three adorable baby black squirrels that were rescued after their home was cut down. I don’t know how she manages to save so many birds, squirrels, rabbits, foxes and many other critters in need each year. I am in awe of all her compassion, hard work, and ability to get things done.

The generosity of everyone on was very heartwarming! With direct donations and a portion of profits from sales we raised almost $1000! In total they have raised $16,650 toward the sanctuary. If you weren’t able to make it in on Saturday you can still donate by going to the website: https://www.youcaring/nottingham-nature-nook. The Wild Birds Unlimited East Lansing, Michigan store will also pass along any cash or check donations.

It was so good of you to host Cheryl and the squirrels and to donate a portion of your sales last Saturday. The fox enclosure will soon be a reality.
