Photo Share: Gray squirrel with white ears and flaming red tips

I liked this squirrel because he had white ears with red tips.
Chubby, stubby-tailed squirrel.
This fox squirrel has a very short tail. I think he was born that way and it will grow longer. He likes to eat upside down. - Anna

We had a squirrel visiting the Wild Birds Unlimited store that looked very similar to your short-tailed one. I called him Stubby. He was very smart! I haven't seen him for awhile and now I think he's moved over to your yard. Very Smart!

I have a lot of mixed up squirrels in my yard too. Eastern Gray Squirrels can have coats that are black, white, brown, or gray. Coloration is hereditary, but spontaneous genetic mutations sometimes results in a squirrel's coat displaying different colored sections or patches.

Thank you Anna for sharing the interesting photos of your unique squirrels! If anyone else would like to share a photograph of nature send it to bloubird@gmail.com with a description and permission to post it on the Friday Photo.
