Hot Pepper seed cylinder

What birds like Hot Pepper?

Hot pepper cylinders are popular not because birds like food containing hot pepper, it's that it deters mammals. Mammals have special neural receptors for capsaicin (the active ingredient in chili peppers) and therefore, experience the "heat." Birds either lack these receptors or have receptors that are insensitive to capsaicin. One theory is that chili peppers evolved this way to keep small mammals away and encourage birds to disperse their seeds far across the land.

Wild Birds Unlimited's Seed Cylinders are the easiest, longest-lasting way to feed a wide variety of birds. And if you are looking to feed just the birds and exclude the squirrels, hot pepper may be the problem solver for you.

They are made of tree nuts, black oil sunflower, sunflower chips, peanuts, and hot pepper. And now we have them in the Large size so they will last even longer!
