Photo Share: Outside the Wild Birds Unlimited door

My iris are in full bloom. They are a variety of Dutch Iris called Mystic Beauty. Some years they are more purple, some years more yellow. This year the unusual coloring and stripes seem to glow.

And this little guy was sitting on the sidewalk again. I've moved him to the side garden several times over the years but he always returns to certain hunting spots. In the wild most American Toads probably don't survive more than a year or two. Wild Birds Unlimited has been in this location almost 12 years and I've always had a toad (maybe this guy) digging tunnels or freaking me out when I trimming up some of the catmint. Not that I don't love him, but he's so Zen. Some toads have lived longer than 10 years in the wild.

If anyone else would like to share a photograph of nature send it to bloubird@gmail.com with a description and permission to post it on the Friday Photo.
