My Valentines were seeds

Valentines

I gave a hundred Valentines.
A hundred, did I say?
I gave a thousand Valentines
one cold and wintry day.

I didn't put my name on them
or any other words,
because my Valentines were seeds
for February birds.

by Aileen Lucia Fisher (September 9, 1906 – December 2, 2002) Born in Michigan, a writer of more than a hundred children's books, including poetry, picture books in verse, and prose about nature.
